Mel Gibson Revisited
65
It is a terrible shame that Mel Gibson’s personal life is becoming more popular than what our government is doing. I previously wrote an opinion piece regarding Mr. Gibson’s downfall in the eyes of the public as well as my own. As more of this man’s humiliation comes to light you begin to see where the truth becomes more blurred and the bull becomes overwhelming.
While I still do not approve of his conduct and I had,for the most part, had left Oksana in limbo, I will have to admit that there appears to be an outside stirring of the cauldron. We all know that the media can twist the simplest of facts into the most tragic or errors, I believe that as this mess progresses for Mr. Gibson the facts may become unrecognizable.
I previously stated that I believed that Mr. Gibson had lost his way and I still stand by that belief. I do wish him the best in finding his way back to the person he once was or at least the one the public has perceived him to be. On the other side of the situation is a woman who should be gagged or at least have a gag order issued to her.
Yes, Mr. Gibson is a public figure but his dirty laundry should not be aired in the general mainstream especially by someone who is seeking to benefit from the relationship. In my last opinion on Mr. Gibson I pretty much left Oksana out of the commentary leaving myself open to the impression that I was not acknowledging her role in the situation. I would like to clear that up now.
I never disagreed with the probability that she was staging this fiasco. I never stated that I did not believe that she was in it for the money. She started dating him within a few weeks of his separation from his wife; of course, she was in it for the money. I am not naïve in how people function nor am I unknowing of vindictive women. I have no doubt that Oksana, like most women, has the ability and likelihood of being a complete shrew.
I do not agree will dragging custody battles into the limelight anymore than I agree with arguments demonstrated in front of the children involved, regardless of their age. I still believe that Mr. Gibson is suffering from hoof-in-mouth disease and needs to slow down, breathe, and think before continuing to have any further conversations with Oksana. I also still believe that despite ill will towards each other there should be a certain amount of respect put into play on both of their behalves, if for no other reason than they are the parents to a child and will have to cross paths several times in that child’s life and therefore should be able to at least treat each other civilly.
When relationships dissolve badly the parting of ways can be difficult at best. When there are children involved keeping a civil tongue can be almost impossible. I believe that Mr. Gibson enjoys being a father; only someone who enjoys fatherhood would consent to have as many children as he has. I do not believe that he would harm a child, even in the middle of an argument with a former lover. I have never condemned him as being brutal, just unthinking. I further believe that despite any tendencies at revenge that Oksana loves the child equally, but I believe that she sees the child as an entitlement to a carefree life despite the intolerable relationship with the father.
Ghosts of the past have a nasty habit of coming back to haunt at the most inopportune moments. The child that these two people entangled their lives enough to have will be the one haunt by those ghosts. My questions regarding Mr. Gibson’s sense of self still stand and maybe one day he will find the answers he is searching for and by doing so enlightening the rest of us. I previously stated that Mr. Gibson will eventually come full circle and receive his comeuppance; I feel that I left the impression the “comeuppance” was an omen of ill will. This is a mistaken impression. Every person on this planet receives their comeuppance for each and every action or choice that they make; sometimes it is a good thing, sometimes it’s not. Whether Mr. Gibson is in the right or wrong, when everything makes the round and comes about he will receive what is just and appropriate. Further, Oksana will receive her comeuppance as well.
Both parties have made mistakes unique to their perspective. Both parties will have to live with the justifications that they tell themselves and both parties will have to look themselves in the mirror each day. Those of us who live in the outside world will never truly know the truth behind the media twists, the only people who will know what actually happened are the people living it. We are not a part of that relationship, we had no say in it, we do not possess any knowledge of actions behind closed doors, factually or alleged. My sympathies to those affected by this public spectacle.

I loved your article. I just posted a piece on Gibson as well, but mine had a more tougher stance with regard to the media onslaught and what this says about the media and ourselves.
"I do not agree will dragging custody battles into the limelight."
That goes with the territory for actors, politicians and other celebrities. Gibson is a talented actor and director, but he's his own worst enemy. And he has some very bad habits.
I much prefer George Clooney among Gibson's peers.
